5 Resilience-Building Strategies for Your Toughest Days

We all face challenging days in life when it seems like the world is against us. However, it’s during these difficult times that our resilience is truly tested.

To help you work through your worst days, take a look these five valuable strategies. And if you’re looking for more inspiration and guidance on overcoming adversity and achieving success in life and business, explore more of what JW Radford has to offer.

1. Maintain Perspective

When facing tough days, it’s essential to maintain perspective. Remember that challenges are temporary, and setbacks are opportunities for growth. Focus on the bigger picture, and you’ll find that resilience often leads to greater success.

Remind yourself, “it’s a bad day—not a bad life.” Remember that certain setbacks are not nearly as bad as they seem. However, your past traumas and experiences could cause you to overreact to a minor inconvenience. Take the time to talk to yourself and remember that it’s not that bad.

If it is that bad, talk to your support network to find a silver lining or a perspective that allows you to move forward without standing still.

2. Lean on Support Systems

Don’t be afraid to reach out to friends, family, or colleagues for support. Sometimes, sharing your burdens and seeking advice can provide clarity and emotional relief during tough times.

As mentioned above, the best thing you can do is reach out to your support structure. Many people have a few friends or family members they can talk to. Even if you’re not sharing every detail, you need an outlet. It could be your therapist (which is always a good idea,) but you need somebody who will hear you when you have nowhere else to turn.

3. Self-Care Matters

Prioritize self-care on difficult days. Make time for activities that relax and rejuvenate you, whether it’s exercise, meditation, or spending time in nature. Taking care of yourself is an essential aspect of resilience.

Self-care could be as simple as an hour on the porch at the end of a long day. Some people play videos games to decompress. Some folks prefer to go on walks. You might play with your pets. You might take a nap just to recover from a long day or traumatic experience. Take a bath. Do anything that will help you feel at least 1% better.

4. Adapt and Learn

View adversity as a chance to learn and adapt. Embrace the lessons that come from tough days, and use them as stepping stones toward future success. You may not have the capacity in the moment, but make sure you look back and try to take something from each experience, no matter how tough it was. Remember, you’re not receiving the preaching—you can preach to yourself about what’s good, even in the worst of times.

5. Seek Inspiration

Sometimes, all you need is a dose of inspiration to help you work through tough days.
